About Tutor Training
Thank you for your interest in our Tutor Training Classes. We have a team of trainers who will be providing all the instruction you need. The 15 hour training is interactive and allows you to experience your own style of learning. On the first day of training, you are provided with workbooks and handouts. Each night, homework is assigned in preparation for the next week's class. Upon completion of the class assignments, you will be matched with a student in either Basic Literacy or with someone who wants to improve their English as a Second Language skills.
You are not alone in your volunteer efforts. Our Washington Township office is open Monday through Thursday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Trudy, Jan and LaTanya are readily available to help you during any phase of your tutoring. We provide various resources to help encourage and mentor you along the way. Our office houses a lending library with materials and workbooks and we also provide opportunities for development through our monthly tutor meetings and various workshops.
Tutoring is one of the most rewarding ways to volunteer your time to others who are struggling with literacy issues. We look forward to welcoming you to our family of volunteers!
